Hot Water Tank FAQs
How hot is the water inside my electric/gas hot water storage tank?
Most manufacturers’ recommended setting is 150°F internally on electric and gas hot water storage tanks. This temperature is required in order to kill any bacteria within the water.
Can the temperature of my tank be turned down?
We can adjust your electric/gas hot water storage tank’s thermometer to 140°F. If you require a lower temperature, The Government of Ontario mandates that homeowners install an anti-scald device that allows the tank’s internal temperature to remain at 140°F - 150°F; however, the temperature you receive at your faucets is 120°F.
Can I change the size of my hot water storage tank?
Depending on your specific home and your needs, we offer a variety of different sizes for all types of electric and gas hot water storage tanks.
Why do I always run out of hot water?
Depending on the type of tank and your specific needs, your tank and/or your plumbing could be in need of repair, or perhaps you simply need a larger tank. If you are continually running out of hot water because your tank is too small, then you should consider an on-demand tankless system.
When should I replace my hot water tank?
It depends on the age of your tank. Have you noticed a decrease in your amount of hot water? If you currently have an electric hot water storage tank, switching to a gas-powered tank would be more energy-efficient and save you money in the long run.
What are the on-demand tankless systems?
An on-demand tankless system is a gas-powered system that does not retain water. It is a small box that sits on the wall and immediately heats the water as it passes through the system. Operating at 190,000 BTUs, an on-demand tankless system is the most energy-efficient system on the market, as they only heat the water you use.
